Cubo isn’t a fashion brand that decided to make glasses.

We’re optical people who decided to make better eyewear.

Created by the team behind Glasseslab Opticians, Cubo brings together optometrists, optical laboratory technicians, eyewear specialists and researchers with years of hands-on experience in optics.

Every day, our team tests eyes, fits glasses, works with complex prescriptions, adjusts frames and sees first-hand what makes a great pair of glasses — and what doesn’t.

That experience is behind every Cubo frame.

Cubo grew from Glasseslab Opticians, our independent optical practices in London.

Working directly with thousands of spectacle wearers has given us an understanding of eyewear that goes far beyond how a frame looks.

We understand fit. We understand lenses. We understand prescriptions. We understand materials. And we understand that a pair of glasses has to work on a real face, every day — not just look good in a photograph.

Eventually, rather than continuing to search for the eyewear we wanted for our patients, we decided to create it ourselves.

Cubo was born.

There are more eyewear brands than ever before.

Many have emerged from the fashion and online retail world rather than from optics. Much like fast fashion, eyewear can now be designed and manufactured quickly and inexpensively, with appearance often taking priority over materials, construction and longevity.

We wanted to take a different approach.

Great design is essential to Cubo, but we believe a frame should be more than a fashion accessory.

Our optical background means we think about how a frame fits, how it balances, how it accommodates different prescriptions, how the lenses will sit within it and how it will perform after months and years of everyday wear.

We design eyewear from an optical perspective first.

Every Cubo frame is designed by our team in London and made in Italy.

For generations, Italy has been at the heart of the world’s premium eyewear industry. In particular, the communities surrounding the Italian Dolomites have developed an extraordinary concentration of specialist frame manufacturers, craftspeople and suppliers.

Eyewear isn’t simply another product manufactured there.

It’s a craft.

That’s why we chose Italy to make Cubo.

Our frames are produced by specialist Italian eyewear manufacturers using traditional craftsmanship alongside modern production techniques.

Many of our acetate frames begin with premium Mazzucchelli acetate, produced in Italy by one of the world’s most respected names in eyewear materials.

The process isn’t rushed.

From the initial design and acetate selection through cutting, tumbling, polishing, assembly and final finishing, a Cubo frame can take around three months from start to finish.

It’s a very different philosophy from disposable, fast-fashion eyewear.

There are details in a frame that most people will never notice.

We do.

Bridge dimensions. Lens depth. Frame curvature. Temple length. Weight distribution. Hinge construction. Acetate thickness. Prescription suitability.

These small decisions can make an enormous difference to how glasses look, feel and perform.

Because Cubo is developed by people who spend their working lives around eyewear, these considerations are part of the design process from the beginning — rather than an afterthought.

We don’t believe glasses should be disposable.

They’re one of the few things you may wear from the moment you wake up until the moment you go to bed.

So they should feel good.

They should fit properly.

They should be made from quality materials.

And they should last.
